Create a gift card program

In order to offer gift cards for your business, you must first create a gift card program. It contains all the settings and conditions that will apply to the gift cards sold within the gift card program.

Name your Gift Card Program

This name will be used in emails sent to customers enrolled in your program and in the online web app customers use to check their card's balance and transaction history. It will also be the name of the payment method created in Clover’s Register app which is used to redeem gift cards as a payment method for orders rung up in the Register app.

Choose Country and Language

Choose the country and language you wish to operate your program in. This affects the available currencies for your program, the language of customer facing emails and the online web app. We use the same settings as your Clover merchant account by default.

Select Program Currency

Select a currency for your program. You'll be able to select any currency that is accepted in the country you selected previously. Any money values are denominated in this currency. We use the currency of your Clover account by default.

Set a Maximum Balance

Set a maximum balance for gift cards. This is the maximum amount of value a single gift card can hold. If a reload is attempted which would bring the balance of a card above the maximum balance, the transaction will be rejected.

Set an Initial Balance

Set an optional initial balance for cards. When new gift card is created in your gift card program, this will be the initial balance of the card. This value is not funded by any money and is considered a merchant credit to the new gift card. Use this feature to reward customers for enrolling in your gift card program.

Add an Incentive

Create an optional incentive that rewards customers when they add value to their gift card. (E.g. Load $25 or more onto your gift card, receive a 10% bonus.) The incentive is automatically applied when adding value to a gift card.

Brand Your Program

Add a logo and background to your gift card program. By uploading your brand's logo and a background image you'll customize the app’s home screen, emails sent to your customers and the online web app customers use to check their card's balance and transaction history. Your logo is also used when customers store their gift card in a digital wallet app.

Review & create gift card program

Review the settings of your new gift card program. To make changes to any settings, tap the back button in the top left corner of the screen. When you're satisfied with the gift card program's settings, tap the Create Program button.

Gift Card Program Setup Complete

Your gift card program has now been created. Before you can start selling and redeeming gift cards you’ll need to create a card design for your gift card program.
